Here’s a quick tip for previewing mobile versions of websites using Safari for Mac. This is a handy tool for those times when you don’t want to run the iOS simulator or don’t have an iPhone handy.

This guide assumes that you’re using Safari on the Mac. if you are using the Windows version of Safari your instructions may be a little different. Just do a Google search for “change user agent safari windows” to find instructions for Windows machines.

  1. Launch Safari.
  2. Access Preferences and visit the Advanced tab.
  3. In the Advanced area, select the option to show the Develop menu in the menu bar.
  4. You’re all set. Now change your browser’s User Agent by going to Develop > User Agent, then select one of the iOS devices from the list that appears.
  5. You’ll want to change the width of the browser window to better mimic an iPhone/iPad.
