It’s been over a year since I published the D2L Instructor Quick Reference app. Since that time, the app has been downloaded several thousand times and folks have submitted some great feedback, both in reviews on the app store and emails to me. I’m going to start working on the next version sometime soon and I’d like to give users a chance to make some more suggestions on what features you’d like to see added.

Based on the feedback I have received so far, here is my to-do list for the new version:

  • Update the content to include new features released in D2L 9.4 and 10
  • Make the app universal (native iPad interface)
  • Polish the UI a bit & update the graphics for retina screens

A number of folks have also asked for the ability to customize the content for their organization. I haven’t quite decided if/how to implement that feature yet. One idea would be to create a simple web service where admins could post custom materials for their school. The app could then communicate with the server to download and display the information. Setting up such a web service would definitely take some time, and I’m not yet sure if the demand would be there. I welcome any thoughts on such a feature.

Can you think of anything else you’d like to see in the new version? At this time, I’m planning to release the new version sometime after iOS 6 is released this fall.
